Archaeological site Huari and Quinua

The Huari site stands along the road; you can reach it by climbing the hill from Ayacucho towards Quinua’s village. It was the center of the Huari Empire and it must have been a point of engagement in the inter-Andean communication during the Inca period. It is a city with a circular plan, rests of aqueducts, an amphitheater and underpasses. The major sectors are dedicated to funeral rests, surrounded by high protection walls, underground chambers and a cemetery reserved to nobles. Quinua’s village is famous for its red and quite expensive ceramic. There is a museum, small but well done, made of rests that belong to the independence battle, of 1824.
